Partnership Agreement Helps Fund the Latin Festival
On February 24, 2016, Charles County Arts Alliance President Robert Rausch presented a $750 check to Chelsea Brown, College of Southern Maryland Foundation Representative, to help fund the concert to be held on April 16 that is part of the two-day Latin Festival taking place on April 15 and 16, at the La Plata Campus Fine Arts Center Theatre, 8730 Mitchell Road, La Plata, Maryland.
The Saturday concert features CSM's Latin Ensemble, Ritmo Caché, directed by Dr. Stephen Johnson, along with a special performance by Pa' Gozar, a well-known ensemble that performs concerts, workshops and festivals throughout the mid-Atlantic/DC area. The program will include styles as diverse as salsa, Latin Jazz, and other Latin American and Caribbean cultures. This event also serves the goal of providing diverse cultural fine arts events, in this case for Southern Maryland's Hispanic community. The concert starts at 8:00 pm; tickets are $5 in advance, and $7 at the door.
Michelle Goodwin, Vice President, Advancement, for the Foundation, stated in her letter to the Arts Alliance:
We are pleased to acknowledge your donation to the CSM Foundation in support of the Arts Fund. Your donation will have a significant impact on the lives of our students. Thank you for your generosity and support of the initiatives and programs at the College of Southern Maryland.
