NEW YORK, NY
-- Today, Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez, an immigrant, was joined by the New York Immigration Coalition for a press conference outside Fox News Headquarters to condemn the hate speech and racist commentary by Fox News TV Host Tucker Carlson. Council Member Rodriguez is calling for companies to boycott advertising on this xenophobic show. It is time to end the hateful and divisive rhetoric on our national television news programs dirtying our public discourse.
"We still reject this inhumane treatment from anyone in the United States. It is anti-American and it is against everything this country stands for. That is why I stand here this afternoon and condemn the racist, xenophobic comments by Fox News Host Tucker Carlson and call for advertisers to put their money elsewhere and divest from this show. No one that truly cares about ending this despicable, hateful, racist behavior should support Tucker Carlson Tonight," said Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez, Co-Chair of the Black, Latino, & Asian Caucus.
"Companies that continue to fund airtime for hate-speech against immigrant communities are complicit in racist commentary. Together with Council member Ydanis Rodriguez and our fellow New Yorkers, we demand companies pull their advertising from the Tucker Carlson Show and take a stand against white supremacist propaganda

said Steven Choi, Executive Director of the New York Immigration Coalition.
"The only thing making America poorer, dirtier, and more divided is the xenophobic and racist rhetoric coming from Tucker Carlson and Fox News," said
Immigration Chair Carlos Menchaca. "One of the unfortunate consequences of being a nation founded by immigrants is that every generation we have to deal with the same tired and false beliefs about them. Tucker Carlson is just the latest version of this, but his national platform and the prestige of his profession cloak his false views with the imprimatur of objectivity. That's why we must denounce them for their falsity, and urge everyone to condemn them as well in the strongest possible terms."
