Joanne Kenna, an attorney with The Health Law Firm, presented a lecture to nursing students at Adventist University of Health Sciences. The lecture took place on October 5, 2015 at the Orlando, Florida campus. Ms. Kenna explained the purpose of the Florida Board of Nursing, described the significant steps in the Florida nursing disciplinary process and listed practices that can help a nurse protect his or her license.

Ms. Kenna provided an overview of the disciplinary process conducted by the Florida Department of Health/Board of Nursing, including common allegations against nurses typically seen in disciplinary complaints. The lecture shed insight on what accused nurses can expect throughout a disciplinary proceeding. The lecture concluded with Ms. Kenna outlining sure-fire ways nurses put their licenses at risk

Ms. Kenna is a registered nurse in the state of Illinois and a member of the Florida Bar. Her practice encompasses most aspects of health care law and nursing law, including the representation of nurses and other health care providers in professional licensing and credentialing matters, representation before the Board of Nursing and other health care Boards, administrative hearings, contracts, licensure issues, corporate matters, transactional matters and litigation.
