Last month, seven cats were abandoned when two Armstrong County residents moved out of state. Both have been charged with neglect and cruelty to animals.
Thanks to community humane partners, all the felines are safe, healthy, spayed/ neutered, vaccinated; and awaiting adoption.
Rebecca Rupert, Zoning/ Code Enforcement Officer for Kittanning Borough coordinated the rescue and worked with Chris Jirak O'Donnell, Humane Police Officer for Armstrong County. Also joining in the effort were:
-
Charlotte Stephenson for sponsoring spays and helping transport to ICHS.
-
Ruth Ann Johnson and Tina Moorhead-Williams for fostering.
-
Irene Anthony, who alerted officials to the situation and cared for the cats until they could be removed from the house.
These rescues are not possible without partners.
