FLORENCE, MA - Sip 413 in Florence, MA presents Parts Work: Accepting Identity, a solo exhibition by Kristin Schiff that explores identity, disability, and the LGBTQ+ community through photography and ceramics. This is the artist’s debut solo exhibition.
The exhibition presents 5 photographs from the artist’s Fluid Identity (2021 - 2026) and 6 ceramic pieces, created in 2026. As a person living with disabilities and a member of the LGBTQ+ community, Schiff’s artistic work focuses on finding ways to form positive experiences and connections with her body. “My identity and body is often politicized,” Schiff explained, “and art offers me an opportunity to explore and process those feelings and experiences.”
Schiff’s work focuses on finding the beauty in the world and those who came before her. Working with ceramics has deepened her connection with her body and the joy felt in the physical action of creation, while photography pushes her to explore the details of the world around her. She finds inspiration for both sides of her art in travel and in New England’s natural beauty, including in national and state parks, botanical gardens, wildlife refuges, and the local rail trails.
