Orlando, Fla. - February 7, 2024 - The Health Law Firm announced that Amanda I. Forbes, a health care attorney with the firm, was successful in petitioning for extensions of time for several physician clients to take board certification examinations, after their time limits had expired.
One of these medical specialty boards, the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM), certifies doctors who meet specific medical educational, training, and professional requirements, including years of residency training in the medical specialty. Ms. Forbes submitted detailed petitions for extension of time to take the board certification examinations, providing comprehensive documentation and detailed the reasons the clients had not bee able to take the examinations within a seven (7) years period required.
Hardships such as military service, practice in a remote and underserved area, divorce litigation, extended illnesses and other similar circumstances can convince a certification board to grant additional time. Such grants of additional time are not automatic. Requests are closely scrutinized and must be well-documented.
As an attorney with The Health Law Firm, Ms. Forbes represents resident physicians, physicians, nurses, mental health counselors, and other health professionals throughout the United States. She represents healthcare providers in contracts, business transactions, and license defense cases. Her cases include fraud accusations, licensing and disciplinary issues, administrative hearings and appeals, regulatory matters and litigation.
