Glynis Chester, President of the Texas Federation of Republican Women (TFRW), issued this statement following a recent endorsement in the race for the Republican Party of Texas Chairman by a former TFRW President:
"The Texas Federation of Republican Women does not endorse in any race with more than one Republican candidate. Any posts by candidates or their surrogates in a contested primary race should not be viewed as an endorsement by TFRW, its president, or its campaign activities chair."
"A recent endorsement in the race for Republican Party of Texas Chairman by a former TFRW President cannot be construed as a legitimate endorsement by the Texas Federation of Republican Women."
"Endorsements, where permitted, must contain a disclaimer* as defined in the TFRW Bylaws. We respect our members’ choices, and encourage their full participation in the democratic process. However, as TFRW members, we are all aware of our bylaws, and the importance of upholding the integrity of this organization."
*ARTICLE III - POLICY
Section 1. No candidate shall use the TFRW logo in any political advertising, and any political advertising shall contain the following disclaimer: “This endorsement is given by the individual(s) only, NOT the Texas Federation of Republican Women.”
