VISIT VENTURA AGAIN NAMED
CENTRAL COAST BEST PLACE TO WORK
Ventura, Calif. – Visit Ventura is honored to be recognized by the Pacific Coast Business Times  as the “Central Coast Best Place to Work” for the third year running.

Today’s announcement by the Pacific Coast Business Times continues an ongoing awards string for Visit Ventura. Along with the three consecutive (2018, 2019, 2020) Pacific Coast Business Times “Best Place to Work” awards, the California Travel Association also presented Visit Ventura with CalTravel's “Great Workplace Award” for 2019. Visit Ventura has also won Adrian golds, three years running, from Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI). The Adrian award is one of the most prestigious awards in the tourism industry, typically bestowed on tourism giants like Visit California and Hilton Worldwide.

The “Central Coast Best Place to Work,” while an honor, was no surprise to those who work/play in an office that has fun (recognizing the fine work of colleagues with SpongeBob memes) while getting things done. Through creative thinking and various award-winning campaigns, Visit Ventura helps spearhead a tourism effort that generates close to $300 million in annual visitor spending in Ventura and, equally important, creates roughly 2,600 hometown jobs.

But they are also aware that this year’s award comes at a time when the world has been turned upside down. And a time when a best place to work -- and an upbeat attitude -- has never been more needed. Tourism will play a vital role in America’s recovery, and Visit Ventura is ready to do their part.

"COVID-19 has altered every landscape,” said Marlyss Auster, Visit Ventura president and CEO. “All of us know that the concerns of tourism pale in the face of so many real human losses. But tourism is what will help so many people recover; and not just those directly involved in our industry, but thousands more who, plain and simple, are going to need some happy memories when this is done. I think we’re now in a healing business. And here at Visit Ventura, the thought of healing and doing the next right thing makes us feel good.”

The Best Place to Work awards began in 2016. They represent feedback across an organizational structure and were quickly embraced by the community thus increasing their prestige. Workplace factors such as compensation, paid time off, community involvement, and overall corporate culture is considered. Other former Ventura winners include the Trade Desk and Tolman and Wiker.
