HRPDC Dedicates May Meeting to Improving Hampton Roads' Regional Economic Competitiveness
Chesapeake, VA - Hampton Roads' c ity and county leaders will discuss improving Hampton Roads' regional economic competitiveness during the May 17, 2018 meeting of the Hampton Roads Planning District Commission (HRPDC). The meeting starts at 12:30pm, in the Regional Board Room at 723 Woodlake Drive in Chesapeake, Virginia.  Framing the discussion are the following presentations:
Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) Update - Steven Moret, President and CEO of the Virginia Economic Development Partnership who will discuss the work of VEDP and the importance of shovel-ready economic development sites.

Hampton Roads Economic Development Authority (HREDA) Update - Rick Weddle, HREDA President and CEO, will provide a review of a recent IBM analysis which presented recommendations for improving the economic performance of the Hampton Roads region.

Regional Economic Development Sites Inventory -
HRPDC Staff will update the Commission on next steps for the Regional Economic Development Sites Inventory effort, including an opportunity to pursue certification of sites according to their readiness based on the VEDP Tier system.

Following these presentations, the Commission will be asked to have a conversation on potential approaches to improve the economic competitiveness of the Hampton Roads region.
