Pima County Residents Encouraged To Submit Bond Facts
- July 24 Deadline -
Pima County Supervisor Ally Miller today reminded voters in a public service announcement that they still have an opportunity to share their fact-based views with fellow voters in the voter publicity pamphlet.

The deadline to submit arguments for or against Proposition 463 is July 24, 2018. Proposition 463 requests voter approval of the $430 million Regional Road Reconstruction, Preservation and Repair Bond proposed by Pima County Administrator Chuck Huckelberry.

On Tuesday, July 3, 2018 the Pima County Board of Supervisors approved Huckelberry's proposal to place Proposition 463 on the November 2018 General Election ballot.

Supervisor Ally Miller was the lone "NO" vote. Miller rejected the proposal based on her experience, expertise, and input from constituents.

"Fortunately, Arizona law prevents the use of public resources for political purposes. Unfortunately, voters are often at a disadvantage because that law is sometimes ignored by both public employees and elected officials," stated Miller.

In her public service announcement, Miller shared the following information:

State law requires every jurisdiction placing ballot questions before voters send all households in the jurisdiction with a registered voter a publicity pamphlet that explains the ballot question and include arguments submitted by the public for and against the question.

For Proposition 463, the $430 million Regional Road Reconstruction, Preservation and Repair Bond, the public can submit arguments between July 9 and July 24. Arguments can be no longer than 300 words and must be received by the Pima County Elections Department by no later than 5 p.m. July 24. There is a $100 fee required and must be in the form of cash, check or money order payable to the Pima County Elections Department.

The arguments must include the name or names of each person sponsoring the argument. Arguments must be mailed or submitted in person, to the Pima County Elections Department, 6550 S. Country Club Road, Tucson AZ 85756. Mailed arguments must be received by the Elections Department before the 5 p.m. July 24 deadline.

The publicity pamphlet will be mailed to all registered voter households before Oct. 2. The election is Nov. 6.
