Dear Parent/Guardian:

I am writing to inform you of very sad news. Last night, Jared Perez, a senior at PRHS passed away suddenly. Jared has a sister, Michelle in grade 10 and a sister, Camilla at East Brook School in grade 3. The entire PRHS school community extends its heartfelt sympathy to the Perez family and their extended family and friends.

Counselors are prepared and will be available for students and staff during the school day. The emotional response to such a loss can vary greatly. Please be aware that the children have not yet formally been informed at school. However, the news of this loss is spreading. This is a very personal matter that we feel parents will be best equipped to handle based upon the unique needs of their own child. Children and adolescents do not mourn and grieve in the same way or at the same time.

I am sure you will join me in keeping the Perez family in your thoughts and prayers.
