Message from Our New President
I am honoured to be stepping into the role of President as we enter our fourth year of existence and as PRISMA continues to thrive and grow, both in the quality and scope of the musical offerings and in the strength of the organization. The vision and ambition of Arthur Arnold and the founding Board have turned into a reality, and we owe a huge debt of thanks to Brian Balfe, Paul Schachter and Pat Gerlach whose work as President, Secretary-Treasurer and Director for PRISMA went far beyond what those titles might suggest. Thankfully, they will continue to be involved with PRISMA, and we certainly hope to see a great deal of them this season.
Clearly, PRISMA should no longer be regarded as a fledgling event, but we are still evolving rapidly and are learning as we go. Our greatest assets are the support and enthusiasm of the Powell River community, and we must continue to ensure that we explore ways to further enhance the city's enjoyment of all aspects of PRISMA.
Last year, for the first time, we took the instrumental rehearsals out into the community; this received a very positive response from those who were treated to unexpected musical treats. We also brought in 40 Knots Winery and Coastal Cookery to provide refreshments, and we set up the 'High Note' tent for our top Members. We would value your feedback on these features, so please share your thoughts with us.
Become a Member
Since PRISMA's beginning, we have received tremendously valuable support from our Members, without whose donations we could not survive. We will shortly be starting our annual drive to urge all present Members to renew their involvement. If you are not yet a Member, I would like to encourage you to consider helping to secure the future of PRISMA in this way. You can become a Member for as little as $50, and we value all contributions highly. Visit our website for more details or to purchase your membership.
This year, we are offering to those Members who are able to donate $2,500 or above (i.e. at the 'Encore' or 'Maestro's Circle' level) the option of directing their donations to the direct sponsorship of students or Guest Artists, and in return they can enjoy an evening recital at home during the PRISMA fortnight.
