Help Them Home Giving Day Raises $11,006 to Benefit AAF Residents

AAF is delighted to thank everyone who participated in the Help Them Home giving day on April 23. Thanks to the generosity of 136 donors, AAF received $11,006 in contributions! These gifts will support our residents in a variety of ways, including rent assistance, purchasing furnishings and supplies for AAF houses, and more.

We're also pleased to thank the board members and house managers who participated as Help Them Home fundraisers. A special thanks to the following house managers who met or exceeded their individual fundraising goals:

Leslie H.

Mike E.

Peter K.

Philip A.

Shawn S.

Tee P.

Timothy B.

And a big congratulations to Tee, who raised the most of any Help Them Home fundraiser - and whose house was treated to a pizza party as a special thank-you!

Ambre's New Chapter

When Ambre achieved sobriety in 2022 and started thinking about her future, she came up with a five-year plan: buying her first home. Thanks to hard work and perseverance, Ambre is achieving this goal ahead of schedule, in just three years! Unfortunately, Ambre’s gain is Action Alliance’s loss, as her new home is in Maryville, Tennessee, near Knoxville.

Ambre was just 12 when she started using drugs and alcohol, resulting in 10 different stints in juvenile hall. At the age of 18, those stints turned into jail, including a 13-year stay for being the driver in a series of 26 armed robberies.

Achieving sobriety in 2022 after escaping an abusive relationship, Ambre moved to an Action Alliance home. Within nine months she was asked to be a house manager, and she began working in business-to-business sales in 2023. The job is a perfect fit – she’s continuing to work remotely for the company after her relocation to Tennessee.

AAF Receives Grant from the Wilson W. Phelps Foundation

For the second consecutive year, Action Alliance Foundation has received a grant from the Wilson W. Phelps Foundation. The $8,300 grant will be used to purchase mattresses for use by our residents.

Thank you, Wilson W. Phelps Foundation, for your continued and generous support!

Angels Baseball Supports AAF

AAF is thrilled to thank the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim for its recent donation of game tickets for use by our residents. The Angels donated 50 tickets to the May 11 game versus the Baltimore Orioles on Mother's Day, and 50 tickets to an upcoming game versus the Boston Red Sox on June 25.

"One of the residents who attended the May 11 game is part of AAF's partnership with OC Probation," explains Joe Melican, VP of Operations for AAF. "It was the first time he'd ever attended a major league baseball game - and he had an amazing time!"

A huge thank you to the entire Angels organization for giving the gift of major league baseball to our residents. We appreciate you!
