AAF Receives 2025 Chief's Award from OC Probation

Action Alliance Foundation is pleased to be among the recipients of OC Probation's Chief's Awards 2025. AAF received the award for its role in bringing a bold idea into reality and creating a life-changing resource, giving justice-involved individuals a foundation for success while reducing homelessness and strengthening community safety. AAF entered into its partnership with OC Probation in 2024, providing housing and services to community members on probation who are also recovering from substance abuse. AAF staff members pictured with this important team award are (from left): Jessica Otero, Shawn Sterhardt, Billi Tellez and Joe Melican.

AAF and OC Probation were also recently interviewed by Spectrum's news channel about their impactful partnership.

AAF Receives $2,000 Grant from Chapman University

AAF is also grateful for its recent grant from Chapman University. The $2,000 gift will be used to purchase mattresses and hygiene products for use by our residents. Thank you, Chapman, for supporting homeless community members with your generous gift!

Meet Action Alliance Resident and House Manager Joe

13 was a tough age for Joe – he was placed in foster care soon after his alcoholic father’s death and due to other problems at home. He soon started using weed and meth, after already abusing alcohol since he was in elementary school. He started committing crimes and was in and out of juvenile hall.

Joe pulled it together during young adulthood, with dreams of becoming a professional mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter. He ended up being a bouncer at a strip club, however – not the best environment for someone struggling with both crime and addiction.
