Action Alliance Foundation (AAF) provides safe recovery residences for homeless alcoholics and addicts, including those struggling with mental health issues. We teach our residents how to create sober lives leading to futures full of hope and promise.

Meet Board Member Carlos Isais

AAF Board Member Carlos Isais is all about kindness. In fact, it’s a major reason he agreed to serve on Action Alliance Foundation’s Board of Directors. “AAF’s business model IS kindness,” explains Carlos. “I’m a big proponent for sober living, and am excited and honored to be involved with an organization that provides this opportunity to homeless addicts and alcoholics, regardless of their ability to pay.”

Carlos, who has been sober since 2000, began drinking at the tender age of 9, sneaking mini-cans of Coors during a party he attended with his parents. He hid the evidence, and couldn’t wait to do it again.

Growing up in Fullerton and Placentia, Carlos was very involved with music, playing synthesizer in a band with high school classmates. He continued to drink throughout his youth but was able to get by. At the age of 21, however, he burned a lot of bridges, and realized his drinking was the basis for his problems.

Meet Action Alliance Resident Robert

Just 10 years ago, Robert worked in the hospitality industry, was married and had a son and daughter. But it all came crashing down when he turned to alcohol to cope with a difficult season in his life.

His marriage over and with no job, he was homeless for three years and continued to drink. In 2021, he completed a detox program at his sister’s insistence and moved to an Action Alliance residence. By also relying on his Christian faith and attending AA meetings, he’s been sober ever since.

Today, Robert is an assistant supervisor at a local Norm’s restaurant, is in touch with his kids, and has purchased a reliable used car. “Action Alliance has provided me with the structure I needed in my life,” says Robert. “My housemates are like family.”

You can help other community members like Robert on their path to lifelong sobriety by making a charitable gift to Action Alliance Foundation. A gift of just $25 will sponsor a homeless alcoholic or addict at one of our homes for one night, giving these residents time to heal before securing a job and paying their own way. Simply click here to make your gift today.

Meet Our Residents

Every night, approximately 300 Orange County residents receive housing and support for maintaining their sobriety at a house managed by Action Alliance Foundation or its for-profit partner, Action Alliance Services. Each of our residents has a unique story - a story of how they are overcoming a challenging past in preparation for a promising future.

New stories featuring residents Robert, Peter and Michael have recently been added to our website. You can read about each of them - and others - by clicking here.
