Calif. Wing's Cadet Programs Conference Dives
into Virtual Reality, Opens to All Members
For nearly 50 years, the California Wing’s Cadet Programs Conference has offered cadets around the wing and Pacific Region a weekend of learning, socializing and fun. Because of COVID-19, the event has been re-engineered as a virtual reality conference set for Feb. 12-15.

The deadline for registration is Feb. 7. Visit www.CAWGCPC.com for more information, to view the promotional video, and for registration.

Over 17 different government, military and industry leaders from around the nation are scheduled to speak. More than 50 seminars will be available for cadets and senior members.

Corporations, universities and government agencies will be present for a career fair to talk to cadets one-on-one. All branches of the military will be represented, offering the opportunity to speak to a variety of occupational specialties. In addition, more than universities will participate, including several service academies.
1st Cisco Networking Academy Courses Launched
Civil Air Patrol has launched the first four-course cohort after partnering with Cisco Networking Academy (NetAcad) to make cybersecurity support, training and curriculum resources available for free to all CAP members. The course launch follows a successful Learn-a-Thon from last fall in which over 1,600 members participated.

The Cisco NetAcad courses are being released in quarterly cohorts to help encourage completion and help with recruiting new CAP members. The courses are self-paced, but units can work on them together.

Quarter 1 runs from Jan. 17-March 31 and consists of four courses.

Those interested in enrolling in the training should visit cyber.cap.gov
Operation Pulse Lift Nearing Latest Goal of 2,000 Units
Now entering its seventh week of operations, the Arizona Wing has collected 1,791 units of blood — 90% of its current goal of 2,000 by Valentine's Day.

The wing's four donation centers (the Show Low [with two], Glendale and Falcon squadrons) will be operational Feb. 1-4, and organizers hope for an additional surge in CAP's Operation Pulse Lift Blood Donation Program over the next 28 days. Note in the map above that CAP members from 41 wings have contributed to the national response so far.

To participate in Operation Pulse Lift, go to your nearest blood donation event hosted by the American Red Cross. Your contribution will be counted as part of program.

Go to Schedule Your Blood Donation With The Red Cross (redcrossblood.org)  to find a nearby donor center and then let rditch@cap.gov know when you or your family members give blood between now and Feb. 14.

Jump on the 80th Anniversary Bandwagon

Founded in 1941 by a fledgling group of volunteers led by civilian pilots, CAP celebrates its 80th anniversary this year, and a national-level working group is on the job to make it memorable.

We’ll be releasing things throughout the year to celebrate the legacy of the subchasers who flew reconnaissance missions from Coastal Patrol bases near the nation’s East and Gulf coasts to protect cargo ships, especially vital oil tankers.

We’re kicking off the celebration with the announcement that a new 80th Anniversary graphic is now available, as well as an 80th Anniversary PowerPoint template and 80th Anniversary virtual meeting background.

You can start using these now by using the link below. Please read the Graphic Standard document for proper application of the various graphic before use. Stay tuned for anniversary merchandise, a commemorative coin, a recruiting poster, a Special Edition Volunteer magazine issue, and more.

Please also cease using the 2020 Sustaining Excellence graphic and begin celebrating our Proud Past and Envisioning the Future.
