For 22nd Straight Year, Civil Air Patrol Contributes to Super Bowl Safety
Civil Air Patrol is participating for the 22nd straight year in an exercise to help the U.S. Air Force ensure the safety and security of airspace around SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, and Super Bowl LVI, set for Feb. 13.

To help train Air Force fighter aircrews and maintain their proficiency, CAP aircraft fly into simulated restricted airspace, playing the role of a trespassing aircraft as the Air Force jet crews practice intercept techniques. The Air Force pilots fly alongside the CAP plane, make radio contact, and guide it out of the restricted airspace.

“Our Air Force auxiliary, CAP, comprised mostly of volunteers, is a national treasure. They continue to make significant contributions day in and day out to include their work in support of this national sporting event,” said Air Force Lt. Gen. Kirk Pierce, commander, CONR–First Air Force. “Be it educational CAP static aircraft displays or defense-training flights, the team is excitedly preparing for America’s Game.”

Leadership Seminar Concentrates on Group Command

Group command was the focus when Civil Air Patrol’s National Mentorship Program convened online Jan. 22 and 29 for its third topic in the Leadership Development Virtual Seminar series.

Seminar topics included roles and responsibilities of the group commander along with the group commander selection process, communicating with the group, risk management, and more.

In addition to region vice commanders, wing commanders, and group commanders who made presentations, more than 65 participants heard CAP’s former national commander, Maj. Gen. Mark Smith, address one of his favorite subjects servant leadership.

Take Control of Your Education and Training
Did you know every Volunteer University module can be offered onsite or online? Squadrons, groups, wings, and regions can offer the modules in a way that works for their members if they have a trained Vol U. instructor.

This includes offering classes face to face via Teams/Zoom. Or members can register through eServices for an online cohort a group of up to 25 online learners whom instructors will support as they accomplish modules in a level or an entire level in the Senior Member Education and Training Program.

Take control of your education and training today. Visit this link on GoCivilAirPatrol.com to learn more or contact your local leadership to learn about onsite educational offerings.
Spanish-language Parent Website Launched
Cadets are a major part of Civil Air Patrol’s mission to serve America's communities, save lives, and shape futures. A new version of GoCivilAirPatrol.com was launched Feb. 1 to help Spanish-speaking parents understand CAP and the cadet program.

Es.GoCivilAirPatrol.com features translations of many of the program's pages, including information about CAP, frequently asked questions, how to join, info for new cadets, cadet protection, and more. We’re looking forward to the site helping new and existing cadet families understand and take full advantage of the resources available to them, such as Curry Blues vouchers and the Cadet Encampment Assistance Program.

Note that the translation is targeted toward prospective and current cadet parents and guardians. Pages unrelated to the cadet program haven't been translated, and those links go to the original GoCivilAirPatrol.com.
