From the PRS President June 2025

Dear Colleagues,

Summer is here, and PRS activity and planning is as busy as ever!

Thanks to all who have renewed their PRS membership. If you haven’t yet crossed this off your ‘to-do’ list - it’s never too late! If you are not yet a member- join us! PRS membership is critical to keeping our society a vibrant voice for Rheumatologists in Pennsylvania. Membership means more than a conference discount. It supports PRS educational programming, Fellows in Training, and legislative advocacy.

It may be summer, but learning doesn’t take a vacation! For the third year, PRS is offering the Cross Borders Summer Lecture Series, co-sponsored with the Maryland Society for the Rheumatic Diseases. Thanks go out to Dr. Marisa Mizus, President of MSRD and Dr. Annemarie Brescia (Jefferson-Nemours) for planning this year’s virtual lectures.

Summer also brings registration for this year’s Annual Scientific Meeting. We’ve lined up another outstanding program of speakers and topics! Personally, I appreciate that the PRS meeting combines great research and clinical presentations together with collegial discussions with my fellow Pennsylvania rheumatologists. With no need to rush between sessions, those ‘between the sessions’ hallway conversations help all of us keep current with what is happening in our practices and the Pennsylvania rheumatology community.

I look forward to ‘seeing’ you online for the Cross Borders lectures, and in person at the annual meeting,

Warmly,

Tanmayee Bichile, MD

Allegheny Health Network

President, Pennsylvania Rheumatology Society

PRS Spotlight on...Advocacy

PRS supports advocacy on issues that impact Pennsylvania rheumatologists and their patients. Growing increasingly complex, these issues take more than a soundbite to explain. That’s why PRS members can count on the PRS Advocacy Committee to analyze and act on significant topics - from PBM and Copay Accumulator reform to Biomarker Testing coverage to Physician Reimbursement.

Every voice counts!  What is your most urgent issue? Let us know here:  Advocacy Matters
