From the PRS President

Dear PRS Members, Colleagues, and Supporters,

You recently should have received an email about renewing your Pennsylvania Rheumatology Society (PRS) membership for 2026. I’ve been a PRS member for over 10 years and now, as PRS president, I have a different frame on what PRS does and how it serves all rheumatologists across Pennsylvania. I see an association that stays true to its mission of serving the common professional interests of rheumatologists and their patients in Pennsylvania. I see an association that works to foster the cooperation of all who are concerned with the medical, social, and economic aspects of rheumatology in Pennsylvania. I see an association committed to supporting the future of rheumatology by sponsoring educational events and scholarships for Fellows in Training.

In these winter months, PRS has been hard at work planning for this year’s upcoming events. The planning committee has already set a great agenda of lectures and events for our 2026 Annual Scientific Meeting. We are currently in the process of inviting speakers for the annual Crossing Borders Summer Series, virtual lectures held in conjunction with neighboring states.

Stay tuned for details and registration!

And in the meantime, please consider renewing your PRS membership.

Advocacy News

PRS recently became a Participating Member of the Alliance for Transparent and Affordable Prescriptions (ATAP).

ATAP is a coalition of patient and provider organizations working to address the impact of pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) on prescription drug costs and patient access to affordable treatment. It seeks to educate physicians, patients, legislators, and the general public about PBMs and their role in the prescription drug market. ATAP advocates at both the state and federal levels to increase transparency and to further regulate PBM practices, with the goal of ensuring patient access to effective and affordable medication therapies.
