Dear School Community Member:
Good afternoon. I hope everyone is finding a way to stay cool during the recent heat wave. This hot and humid weather serves as a reminder that lazy days by the pool or walks on the beach are just around the corner.
As a district, we continue to adjust our protocols based on the guidance we receive from health officials and the NJDOE. Please be advised of the following regarding the use of masks on school property:
Outside Mask Wearing
Effective immediately, the use of masks on school property will no longer be required and will remain optional for all students, parents and staff members. This will include drop-off/pick-up, school events, promotions, graduations and any other school sponsored activity. The only time students will be asked to wear a face covering will be during outdoor Physical Education classes or recess, when they are engaged in an activity that includes close physical contact.
Inside Mask Wearing
All students, staff members and visitors are still required to wear a mask inside any of our facilities. The recent heat wave will not impact our ability to wear masks inside, due to the fact that 100% of our classrooms in all schools are air-conditioned. If your child has a medical condition that prevents him/her from wearing a mask in school, please provide a note from your child's doctor, and we will accommodate your request.
In closing, we are looking forward to enjoying our end-of-year graduations and promotions under pre-pandemic norms. As mentioned above, masks will be optional at these events, social distancing will not be required and there will no capacity limits, except those dictated by the facility, bleachers, etc. This is always a great time of year as we all look forward to celebrating the many accomplishments and achievements of our students and staff.
