August 3, 2021

Dear School Community Member:

Good afternoon. I hope everyone is enjoying the summer recess. The Gamper family has been busy watching the Olympics and participating in the usual summer activities. As the calendar turns to August, the opening of schools will soon be on everyone's mind. Here are a few quick updates from the PRSD:

  • The Extended School Year Program and Summer Owl Academy ended on July 30th. A positive and productive classroom experience was provided for all students in attendance. Thank you to all of the teachers and administrators who helped to make these programs successful;

  • The construction projects at all three schools are moving along as planned. The hallway ceiling asbestos abatement is completed at the elementary schools and the new LED lighting and ceiling installation is underway. At PRHS, the bathroom renovation is almost complete. We are waiting for fixtures to be installed before final inspections. These are the last four bathrooms at PRHS to be reconditioned;

  • Mr. Lepore (Director of Facilities) and members of the Buildings & Grounds Department continue to prepare the buildings for everyone's return in September. As always, our schools will be bright, clean and welcoming for all students and staff;

  • We continue to monitor the ever changing state of COVID-19 in New Jersey. Unfortunately, the number of cases is increasing statewide, along with the rate of transmission. On August 18th, I will send an email to the entire school community regarding our plans, including health and safety protocols for the upcoming school year. Just as a reminder, all schools will be returning to full days of instruction, with no virtual instruction option;

In closing, I know we will be facing challenges when we return in September, however, we are in a much better place than we were a year ago.

Please feel free to reach out to me directly with any questions.

Sincerely,

Robert M. Gamper, Ed.D.

Superintendent of Schools
