News from the PTG

THANK YOU to all the parent volunteers, teachers, and staff who helped us have a fantastic Fun Day and 2nd Grade Send-Off last week! They were both beautiful days, and we saw lots of happy, smiling faces from students. It was a joy to celebrate their hard work this year! See the pictures below.

The 2022-2023 PTG Board would like to sincerely thank our PTG Members for your dedication and help in making it a great year for all CVPS students. Your presence is an invaluable part of what makes CVPS such a special school! Your time spent has a greater impact than you can imagine. Have a wonderful summer!

As we inch even closer to the conclusion of the school, I am sure our students and families are very excited to transition into summer. This year has been filled with celebrations and accomplishments, and we saw our students grow from one chapter in their lives to another. It brings me such joy to observe how they grow so fast! Thank you for that gift.

Recently, I had the opportunity to take part in the learning in a second-grade class that worked so hard on creating a published book about the Collier area and the history of our school district. I do not think I have ever seen students more engaged in their learning. It reminded me why many of us chose education as our profession. It is observing that spark of curiosity in learning and watching it ignite. I am so proud of that class and the teacher for taking on such a project. Indeed, those students will never forget their second-grade year.

So, as we conclude this school year, I wish you all a relaxing summer, and I look forward to seeing you in the fall.

Very Best,

Dr. Johannah Vanatta

In compliance with the Pennsylvania Department of Health, all students in grades K, 6, and 11 are required to submit physical examinations, and students in grades K, 3, and 7 are required to submit dental examinations. This is to protect the school from the spread of communicable diseases, to ensure that the student’s participation in health, safety, and physical education courses meets their individual needs, and to ensure that the learning potential of each student is not lessened by a treatable physical disability.

Please review the health requirements for your child’s upcoming school year. You can submit your child’s exam via email or mail. You can click here to get the physical and dental forms or visit www.cvsd.net >Student Services > Nurse/Health.

Our teachers and students are doing amazing things every day!

Here are just a few for you to view:

Mrs. Cowen's class learned about light in science.

These projects helped Mrs. Cowen's students to identify if objects were transparent, opaque, or translucent.

Mrs. Cowen's class used created artwork while learning science.

Teacher Appreciation Week was so much fun in Mrs. Mulligan's class!

Mrs. Mulligan's students showed their appreciation on Teacher Appreciation Day.

Mrs. Schweikert's kindergarteners are ready to "graduate" to first grade.

Students in Mrs. Megan Moore's class are using index cards to see if houses could be made out of paper.

Mrs. Moore's students are collaborating and problem solving.

These students received a new summer bag with a workbook to keep their EL skills sharp.

In science, Mrs. DeJames's class built towers using paper.

Mrs. DeJames's students worked together and used their problem solving skills to build their towers.

Mrs. DeJames's students learned about how we all look different and are special in our own ways.
