4 April 2022 | Chartiers Valley Primary School

Dear Primary School Families,

Please see the following announcements for the first week of April.

Bus Evacuation Drills
Due to the cold temperatures last week, the evacuation drill has been moved to Tuesday, April 5. Our school buses will be conducting this safety evacuation drill when they arrive at the Primary School. The bus driver will review bus safety and then practice the drill. We encourage all families to review bus safety with their children. Thank you for your support!

Thank You CVMS Theater Students
On April 1, our students had the opportunity to view a portion of the middle school theater selection The Wizard of Oz as part of a dress rehearsal before the weekend performances. Thank you to all those who made this event possible for our students.

Ukrainian Crisis Relief Campaign
The Interact Club is sponsoring a donation center in each school for emergency items. These boxes can be found outside the main office in each building. Detailed information can be found through Peachjar.

IS Orchestra Program
Last week, our second-grade classes attended a session to learn about opportunities through the Intermediate School Orchestra program. The Chartiers Valley Orchestra Program offers students the opportunity to learn to play the violin, viola, cello, or bass.
Students who are in the third grade or older may participate. With a transition to third grade next year, please CLICK HERE to learn more about this program.

Updated CDC Mask Guidance
On Friday, February 25, 2022, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) issued updated guidance regarding COVID-19 Community Prevention. Masks will continue to be optional for anyone at Chartiers Valley School District. Furthermore, according to this latest update, masks are no longer required on CVSD buses and vans.

At this time, other forms of mitigation will remain in place, and the Allegheny County Health Department (ACHD) guidelines regarding COVID-19 remain in effect. Please use this form to notify the District that your student has been exposed, has symptoms, or has tested positive for COVID-19. Rather than emailing various staff members, completing this form will allow us to streamline communication directly to the school nurse and be more efficient in our response. All submissions are confidential. For your convenience, this form is also available on the District website under "one clicks" and on the COVID-19 page.

Kindergarten Registration for Fall 2022
Kindergarten registration for Fall 2022 is now open. All school-aged children residing within the Chartiers Valley School District, including students who attend private, parochial, placement, and charter schools, must register with the District registrar. Children turning 5-years-old on or before September 1 are eligible to attend Kindergarten in the fall. For more information, including the complete registration packet and list of required documents, visit the registration page on the District website.
