Halloween Parties & Class Treats

The Halloween party at CVPS will be held Friday, October 28, 2022. If your student will be dressing up, please send kids dressed in costumes. This was incorrect in the previous memo. Only approved PTG party volunteers will be permitted into the classroom. NO WEAPONS (or look-alike weapons) of any sort are to be sent to school. If your student is wearing a mask, please make sure that they can see well through the mask.

The Halloween Parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. Parking will ONLY be available at the HS/MS campus which means a walk across the bridge will be necessary to get to the Primary School safely. NO PARKING IS AVAILABLE IN THE PRIMARY SCHOOL LOTS for anyone that is not volunteering or working at the building.

Please also remember the Holiday parties occur three times a year. The PTG provides volunteers for each party. All treats brought in must be non-edible. Snacks that are sent to school will be returned to your child. PTG will be providing treats and no edible treats should be sent in.

Blessings in a Backpack

If your family is experiencing financial hardship and would benefit from food being sent home over the weekends, please reach out to Mrs. Krepp at mkrepp@cvsd.net or 412-429-7016.

Family Cyber Safety Night

How can your family be safe online? By knowing how!  You and your family are invited to join a Family Cyber Safety Night sponsored by CSisElementary. This program is designed for families with students in K-5. This program will be a one-hour-long Livestream event full of fun family activities! Families will learn about phishing, encryption, passwords, and personally identifiable information (PII). In addition, every participating family will create their own family cyber safety plan with cyber.org. This event will be held on Tuesday, October 25, at 6:00 p.m. You can register for the Livestream event here.

Health & Safety Reminders

As we enter the cold/ flu season, please review proper hand washing with your children at home. Students should wash their hands after using the restroom each time and prior to eating. In the restrooms, students should be encouraged to use toilet paper and paper towels to maintain cleanliness.

If your child is absent from school, please email the PS Attendance Secretary, PSAttendance@cvsd.net

Parents, please be reminded that if your child enters the building after 9 a.m., it is considered a tardy. We appreciate your help in getting them to school by 9 a.m. each morning.

ID Requirements

All approved parents/guardians that arrive for car rider dismissal must show a driver’s license or photo identification. This information is listed on pages 8-9 in the Elementary K-5 Student Handbook. Please remember to send an email to psattendance@cvsd.net for any updates or changes to your approved pick-up list.

All flyers are sent digitally via PeachJar. That means no more backpacks full of paper and over 150,000 pieces of paper saved each year...that's 17 trees!
