about how you can receive toys for your child(ren).
Our counselor, Megan Mouas, is presenting Mindfulness lessons to our classrooms through the end of December. Be sure to talk with your child about the following ideas and concepts:
-using our senses to be present in the moment
-how our body responds when we are upset or worried
-ways to calm our body and mind with breathing and stretching techniques
From our library
As part of library class, second grade students studied the work of photographer Walter Wick and his creation of the famous "I Spy" books. Students were inspired to create their own version by photographing objects around a central theme. Students designed the scene, photographed it using iPads and wrote the text to accompany their photo in Google Slides. The ebook was also turned into a hardback book for students to purchase. Proceeds from the book sales are being used to purchase books and other materials for the library.

Racers for Tots
To help our local community, the Primary School will be participating in the
2019 RACERS FOR TOTS HOLIDAY TOY DRIVE
that helps provide Holiday gifts to local families in need. The collection not only contributes to local area families, but also helps support many organizations such as Children’s Hospital, Children’s Institute, Bikes for Children with Autism, Salvation Army, Catholic Charities, Holy Family Institute, F.O.R. of McKees Rocks and many more. From November 25 - December 11, students may donate a new or unused gift donation valued at $10 or more for children between the ages of birth - 10 years. To participate, please have your child bring an unwrapped donation in a bag with the attached tag (
) completed and taped to the donation or bag during the days listed above. If you are donating more than one toy, make sure to tag each toy with the child’s name and homeroom/teacher. If the donation is too large to fit in a bag or to be transported by the student (i.e. bicycles, big wheels, electronic tablets, etc.) the donation can be dropped off at the school office during school hours. There will be a friendly classroom competition, too. Thank you for supporting such a wonderful cause for the holidays!
Jackets, Hats and Gloves
The cooler weather has arrived! Please send your child to school with jackets, gloves and hats, too. We plan to have outdoor recess as often as possible. As long as the temperature is above 32 degrees, it is likely that we will have outdoor recess so please be sure that your child is appropriately dressed.
