Applications for City’s Boulevard Gardening Program open
May 9, 2023

As Edmontonians dust off their gardening tools for another season, the City is excited to once again offer boulevard gardening opportunities as new spaces for people to use their green thumbs. Hundreds of applications were received when the program launched last summer, demonstrating the enthusiasm for this new way to beautify our City.

If there is a City boulevard, the strip of City land between the sidewalk and the road, adjacent to your property, interested gardeners can complete a simple boulevard gardening declaration form.

To get started, visit the boulevard gardening web page to familiarize yourself with the rules and guidelines, and choose a permit option. Most gardeners will choose a Declaration for low-impact gardening, while others with more ambitious projects may require a License of Occupation (LOO). The declaration option is free and the annual fee is waived for boulevard garden license of occupations submitted in 2023.
