The majority of Edmontonians are concerned about climate change and want to take action now. Sometimes knowing what to do, or who to turn to for information, is the biggest challenge to getting started. Changing for Climate is a new video series, brought to you by the City of Edmonton’s Change for Climate team, to introduce Edmontonians who’ve taken steps to reduce their environmental impact.
From homeowners who have taken their home through deep energy retrofits to corporations on the cusp of moving from being major greenhouse gas emitters to becoming near net zero power producers, the Changing for Climate series covers a spectrum of community action.
In episode one,
Going All Electric: A Family’s Journey, Howaida Hassan explains how her family made the transition from gas burning automobiles to battery electric and the impact it has had.
In episode two, Transforming Alberta’s Electricity Grid to Net-Zero, learn about Capital Power’s efforts to phase out coal-fired electricity generation and get a glimpse of the future hydrogen-generated power might provide.
Upcoming episodes will feature families who have retrofitted their homes, an Edmontonian who pivoted from a career on the rigs to renewables, the four steps to building a climate-ready home and much, much more.
Episode one launches today, September 22, with new episodes following every two weeks.
