City crews will winterize and close Edmonton’s 77 spray parks between September 5 - 8. All available spray parks will remain open throughout the Labour Day weekend. Shutdown procedures include inspections and preparing the equipment for colder overnight temperatures.
Crews will close spray parks on a site-by-site basis beginning September 5, so residents may notice some spray parks continuing to operate after this date. Crews are aiming to keep the spray parks at large district parks open the longest for families looking for one last splash of the season. The City asks residents to check
edmonton.ca/SprayParks for operating hours and maintenance closures when making plans to visit a spray park.
“We’re proud to run and maintain 77 spray parks across Edmonton,” said Cheryl Fereday, General Supervisor of Bridges, Structures and Open Space Maintenance. “City crews are getting ready to close the parks, complete necessary maintenance and prepare them for the colder weather, keeping them in good shape to reopen next spring.”
Two new spray parks opened in 2023, in the Callaghan and Glengarry neighbourhoods. Spray parks are a great way to beat the heat in your neighbourhood during the summer. They connect people to each other and their community.
