The City is excited to announce the 4th year of applications for the Youth Poet Laureate. This is an opportunity for emerging youth talent (ages 13-23) to share their creative writing and distinct voice with Edmontonians.
The Youth Poet Laureate is an ambassador for the literary arts in the city. They will incorporate poetry into a range of official and informal City activities. The one-year term will include performances at public events and creating a project to engage Edmonton youth in poetry.
This position is created and sponsored by the City of Edmonton. Edmonton has a proud tradition of poets laureate within Canada and continues to be a leader in ensuring that the passion of youth poets is celebrated. The City thanks Sophie Kim for her time and work as Youth Poet Laureate 2018-19.
The term runs from November 1, 2019 until August 31, 2020. Applications will be accepted until September 29, 2019. To apply visit
