Commercial building owners can apply for the Commercial Clean Energy Improvement Program (CEIP) to upgrade the energy efficiency of their buildings beginning at 10 a.m. on June 7.
Terms and Conditions, including the eligible upgrades list, for the Commercial CEIP were
released today giving building owners time to prepare in advance of the application portal opening Tuesday, June 7.
The two-year pilot program provides access to low-cost financing to help commercial building owners in Edmonton make a minimum of three energy efficiency and renewable energy upgrades to their buildings. There is up to $8.45 million available in financing and rebates which will fund up to 17 major upgrade projects. Upgrades financed by the Commercial CEIP are repaid through property taxes over a maximum 20-year period. Should a building be sold the financing obligation transfers through the property taxes to the new owner.
The Commercial CEIP pilot is funded through the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) Green Municipal Fund.
The CEIP aims to advance efforts to improve environmental resiliency as part of Edmonton’s Community Energy Transition Strategy and Action Plan.
Commercial pre-qualification forms will be available beginning at 10 a.m. June 7 and based on the uptake from the residential program, spots are expected to fill up fast. Owners can find out more at
