ETS summer service changes start July 2
June 19, 2023

Edmonton Transit Service (ETS) summer service changes will be in effect starting Sunday, July 2. These changes are part of the regular service adjustments ETS makes five times a year that include considerations for transit rider feedback and seasonal changes in ridership, such as school schedules.

On Demand Transit
Weekday On Demand Transit service hours for seniors residences will be extended. The service will now be available from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m., instead of from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

More information about On Demand Transit service can be found at edmonton.ca/OnDemandTransit.

Route 727
This new route will take riders from Chappelle to Heritage Valley Transit Centre. It changes into Route 700X at Heritage Valley Transit Centre, providing a transfer-free trip to and from Century Park. This route will only run during peak periods.

Construction/Detours
  • Due to a drainage project in the Duggan area, bus stop #4431 will be closed until May 2024. Routes 660 and 709 will temporarily stop at #4058 (106 St. and 35 Ave. NB) and #4485 (106 St. and 38 Ave. NB) until completed.
  • 132 Avenue Renewal Project (between 108 Street and 97 Street) began on June 5.
  • Routes 106 and 150X will be on detour.
  • Terwillegar Drive Stage 2:
  • Route 55 (West Edmonton Mall) will detour express via 122 St. and Fox Drive with a temporary stop at #2509 (122 St. & 51 Ave. NB). Riders from Brookside and Brander Gardens should use Route 56 West Edmonton Mall at Bus Stop #4153 (Whitemud Drive NB and 53 Ave. NB) or On Demand Transit. Route 55 (Meadows) trips are not affected.
  • Route 706 (Leger) will detour from 51 Ave. onto Whitemud Drive due to 122 St. onramp construction. Use Route 55 (West Edmonton Mall) to access 51 Ave. stops. Route 706 (Southgate) trips are not affected.

Holiday Service Changes
Transit service is adjusted on holidays and during special events:
  • On July 3, buses will run regular Saturday service in lieu of Canada Day.
  • From July 21-30, the Capital Line LRT and Routes 8 and 53 will run extra service to Coliseum Transit Centre for K-Days.
  • From August 5-7, the Capital Line LRT and Routes 8, 53 and 700X will run extra service for the Heritage Festival.
  • On Heritage Day (August 7), buses will run regular Sunday service.

Other service changes
  • Route 56, which currently serves West Edmonton Mall (WEM), Leger, Century Park and Mill Woods Transit Centres, will extend to Meadows Transit Centre during most time periods.
  • This will improve connections from the Laurel, Tamarack and the Meadows neighbourhoods to Capital Line LRT, WEM and Meadows Rec Centre.
  • On weekdays, the route will run during peak times, midday and early evening. On the weekend, the route will run during midday hours.
  • Route 500X service will extend morning service to 11 a.m. and will begin afternoon service at 2 p.m.
  • Route 516 will increase early morning/evening frequency to 30 minutes on the weekends.
  • Route 900X - To avoid West Valley Line LRT construction and to achieve improved schedule reliability, this route will be adjusted to run on 107 Ave. between West Edmonton Mall Transit Centre and downtown. When construction has been completed, the route will return to its original routing.
  • Route 901 - Frequency will be improved during early mornings on weekdays, midday and Sunday evenings.

Riders are encouraged to plan their trip at edmonton.ca/transit or use Google Maps.
