Edmonton Fire Rescue Services lifts fire ban
June 6, 2019

Due to precipitation and cooler weather, Edmonton Fire Rescue Services has lifted the fire ban for the City of Edmonton.

Edmontonians are now able to use open burning permits, fireworks, backyard fire pits, and cooking stoves and barbecues that use fuels such as wood and briquettes, provided they are used with caution. Backyard fire pits must meet all fire pit requirements as outlined by the Community Standards Bylaw.

This decision was based on the Fire Weather Index that is monitored daily and takes into account temperature, wind conditions, humidity and precipitation levels.

Edmonton Fire Rescue Services will continue to monitor the Fire Weather Index to determine precautions required to keep people safe and thanks Edmontonians for their cooperation.
