Did you know community members help shape the decisions that impact our city every day? Here's your chance to contribute and make a real difference in our community. The City of Edmonton is recruiting 19 volunteer members to join various civic agencies and tribunals.
Joining a civic agency or tribunal is a way to bring your unique perspective to the table and help build a more inclusive and vibrant city. It’s also a way to gain rewarding experience in a field that interests you while enhancing your professional portfolio.
The following civic agencies provide advice to Council or have delegated authority to make decisions, and have current vacancies for up to two-year terms:
- Accessibility Advisory Committee
- Community Services Advisory Board
- Edmonton Combative Sports Commission
- Edmonton Public Library Board
- Edmonton Salutes Committee
- Edmonton Transit Service Advisory Board
- Energy Transition Climate Resilience Committee
- Women’s Advisory Voice of Edmonton Committee
Tribunals are quasi-judicial boards that are independent of City Council and have legislative authority to make decisions. Using your expertise in planning, assessment, appraisals, law or other professional areas, joining a tribunal allows you to be part of the decision-making process that affects properties and neighbourhoods. The City is accepting applications for one-year terms on:
- Assessment Review Board
- Subdivision and Development Appeal Board
City Council is committed to fostering diverse perspectives and ensuring everyone has a voice.
To apply, submit your application at edmonton.ca/boards. Postings will close on January 12, 2025. If assistance is required, accommodations may be requested throughout the process by contacting 780-496-8178 or civic.agencies@edmonton.ca.
Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by the end of March 2025 and invited to attend an interview in April. City Council will appoint members in April 2025 and appointments will begin May 1, 2025. Honoraria and expenses are available to appointed members.
