Join a civic board and help shape Edmonton’s future

Have you ever wondered how parks, roads and city facilities are named? Are you passionate about the preservation of historical buildings? Do you want to help with decisions that make a difference in your community? 

The City of Edmonton is recruiting for 38 members to join 13 civic boards, including the:
  • Accessibility Advisory Committee
  • Assessment Review Board
  • Civida Board
  • Community Services Advisory Board
  • Community Standards and Licence Appeal Committee
  • Edmonton Design Committee
  • Edmonton Historical Board
  • Edmonton Public Library Board
  • Edmonton Transit Service Advisory Board
  • Energy Transition Climate Resilience Committee
  • Naming Committee
  • Subdivision and Development Appeal Board
  • Women’s Advisory Voice of Edmonton Committee

Civic boards provide important input into City Council’s decision-making and help shape the present and future direction of Edmonton. Joining a civic board is an exciting opportunity to use your expertise and unique perspectives to help our city, as well as expand your network, grow skills and gain rewarding experience. 

City Council values a diversity of perspectives and appoints individuals to these boards. The City of Edmonton is committed to addressing barriers to participation and ensuring equitable access to opportunity, and honoraria and expenses may be available to members who qualify.

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by the end of March and invited to attend an interview in mid-April. City Council will make member appointments in April 2024, which become effective May 1, 2024.
