Latta Bridge reopens on schedule, on budget and in time for the NHL Heritage Classic
October 27, 2023

Replacement of Latta Bridge, located on Jasper Avenue between 90 and 91 Street, is now complete. As of October 29, 2023, the new bridge will reopen for both vehicular and pedestrian traffic. This timely reopening coincides with the much-anticipated NHL Heritage Classic™, where hockey fans will be heading through the area to Commonwealth Stadium to witness the Battle of Alberta.

Latta Bridge was more than 80 years old and had reached the end of its useful lifecycle, therefore, replacement was necessary. The new bridge has been widened to meet current City standards, and includes a new shared pathway, enhancing accessibility and safety for all.

During the Latta Bridge construction, the project team coordinated rehabilitation of the nearby Kinnaird Bridge, located on 82 Street just south of 112 Avenue, to align the work. This approach minimized long-term construction impacts on the community.
