The City of Edmonton is now accepting applications for the 2025 Operating Grant for Indigenous-led Organizations, which has $1 million in funding available for eligible Indigenous-led, not-for-profit organizations in the city.
The operating grant is intended to support eligible organizations in their efforts to achieve the following:
- Promote the resurgence of Indigenous Peoples’ cultures, languages, identities and ceremonies.
- Ensure safe, inclusive and healing spaces.
- Increase awareness and/or address responses to historical colonialism, trauma and violence.
- Provide education, training, employment and economic security for Indigenous Peoples.
- Support learning and advancing research.
This grant funding is offered under the City’s Community Safety and Well-Being (CSWB) Strategy, in support of the Reconciliation Pillar. The goal of the CSWB Strategy is to create a more inclusive and compassionate city by supporting initiatives that work to improve equity, end poverty, eliminate racism, progress toward truth and reconciliation, foster safe and inclusive spaces, increase crime prevention and crisis intervention or boost the overall well-being of Edmontonians.
Last year, 20 Indigenous-led organizations from across the city received funding to further support the important and meaningful work they undertake within the five priorities mentioned above.
This year’s operating grant will also mark the introduction of a new Community Investment Grant Portal for application intake and reporting (for grants administered through the Social Development branch). Applicants will be required to create an account, where they can then submit, manage and track their grant applications and reporting requirements with the City.
The deadline for applications is Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at 11:59 p.m.
