Reminder: Review your property assessments before March 25
March 20, 2024

The City of Edmonton reminds property owners to review their property assessments and call the City with any questions this week. The general deadline for filing formal complaints about property assessment is 4:30 p.m. on March 25, 2024.

The assessed value of a property represents its market value as of July 1, 2023 and is used to determine the owner's fair share of provincial education and municipal property taxes.

If property owners have concerns about their assessment, they are encouraged to review their notice to check what makes up their property’s assessed value and then compare it with similar properties in their neighbourhood at edmonton.ca/assessment. Additional comparison tools are available at myproperty.edmonton.ca, which can be accessed using the code on the most recent assessment notice.

After reviewing, individuals can call 311 to speak to an assessor and ask any questions. There are no formal complaint fees for this service.

If property owners still disagree with their property assessment they can file a formal complaint, including a fee, to the Assessment Review Board.

The complaint period where property owners can dispute their assessment value extends from when notices are mailed in January until the March 25 deadline. Tax amounts mailed to property owners in May cannot be disputed.
