Hello Poultry Science friends and colleagues. It is my honor to serve as your President this 2020-2021 year. We have many exciting things to look forward to, and I am excited to have the opportunity to work with the PSA staff and Board to ensure a successful year for our organization. I invite you to take a look at my 2020 PSA President’s Welcome where I highlight the success of this year’s first virtual meeting, exciting plans for 2020-2021, and my goal as your president. It is a great honor to serve in this capacity and give back everything the Poultry Science Association has provided to me both personally and professionally.

Annual Meeting Summary

The Poultry Science Association had a great first-ever Virtual Annual Meeting! More than 1,000 individuals registered for the meeting from 47 different countries. The average attendee spent over 22 hours in the virtual platform, and there were nearly 4,000 views of symposium presentations.

Thank you to everyone who contributed in making the event a success, and a special thank you to the 22 sponsors who supported the event financially, despite the current COVID-19 pandemic creating uncertain times. We are already looking forward to our next Annual Meeting in Omaha, NE on July 19-22, 2021. We hope to see you all there!

Poultry Scientists Test Promising Avian Influenza Vaccination Strategies

Avian influenza outbreaks in the United States are rare, but when the virus strikes, the results are devastating. The disease spreads very rapidly, and producers must rely on quarantine-and-cull to try to limit the damage. A 2015 outbreak led to an estimated loss of over 48 million birds.

Student Video Competition
Congratulations to
Mississippi State University!

PSA received 5 submissions to this year's Student Video Competition and the winner (Mississippi State University) was announced on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 as part of the Virtual 2020 PSA Annual Meeting during the PSA Hatchery Business Meeting.

2021 Fellow Awards
Nominations Are Now Being Accepted

The distinction of Fellow is one of the highest honors a PSA member can achieve. The election to Fellow recognizes members of the Poultry Science Association for professional distinction and contributions to the field of poultry science and service to the Association.

Nominations close on November 1, 2020.

The nomination for a Fellow must include the following supporting documents:
  • Nomination Letter
  • Biographical Summary of Nominee
  • 3 Letters of Support
