Hatchery News

The PSA Hatchery is the student branch of PSA and offers unique and valuable opportunities for Poultry Science students. The PSA hatchery is composed of two Student Directors, as well as 12 Regional Directors and University Ambassadors around the world.

Throughout the next year, the PSA Hatchery team will be involved in a project led by Sarah Cloft, Region 1 Director. The project will aim to produce a data base of University Poultry Science programs within PSA's regions. This will allow us to compile Poultry Science opportunities to share with prospective and current students who wish to have a career in poultry science. Likewise, the database will be a valuable tool for those looking for research collaborators.

Moreover, the PSA Hatchery holds a strong value in communications, and we hope to share opportunities related to poultry science with prospective and current students. These opportunities are posted for PSA student members in the PSA Hatchery groups on LinkedIn and Facebook, but can also be found in the Hatchery website (https://www.psahatchery.org). Currently, Zinpro and Diomond V undergraduate scholarships are open for application which will close on December 31, 2021. Connect with us on Facebook, LinkedIn, or visit the PSA Hatchery website for more student opportunities and details.

Finally, the university ambassadors in our team excel at sharing the opportunities within their departments. The complete list of Hatchery leadership is available on the PSA Hatchery's website. If your university does not have an ambassador, and you are interested in facilitating Hatchery communication at your university, please contact us (psahatchery@gmail.com)!

Interpretive Summary
Stopping Poultry Pandemics

This study from The Journal of Applied Poultry Research dives into carcass disposal for poultry producers. Researchers look at how much producers are willing to spend on additional proper disposal capacity and some alternatives to off-site disposal.

With the risk of disease spreading rapidly, the need to dispose of carcasses quickly is crucial to flock health.
