PSALLAM! RSCM America News & Info
December 2014

On behalf of the RSCM America Board of Directors, I wish you all a very happy and joyous Twelve Days of Christmas! I pray that you enjoy each and every one of them, especially with:
  • Some down-time after all of the concerts and special services
  • Lots of your favorite beverages and goodies!
  • Listening to music, rather than "doing" it, or sitting back and relishing some silence!
  • Indulging in all those things you never get to do because you are so busy at the church or meeting the demands of work and family
May the joy and presence of the new-born Christ child remain in your hearts, your souls, and your minds always.

Soli Deo Gloria,

Repertoire for the RSCM America National Choir at Westminster Abbey, December 29-January 2
The RSCM America National Choir will be singing at Westminster Abbey one week from today! Please keep us in your prayers as we all travel and endeavor to sing to the glory of God, filled with the Holy Spirit and understanding, in that awesome place!

Click here for a list of our repertoire for each service--with YouTube links so that you can have a listen to the pieces that you may not know!

Watch the RSCM America Facebook page for what we hope will be daily updates, news tidbits, and hopefully some photos, or even videos! There will be nothing from the services, unfortunately, as the Abbey has a strict "no recording" policy for all of their services. However, following the Abbey Evensong on Tuesday, December 30, we will be recording most of our unaccompanied material at a nearby church that has kindly opened its doors to us. One or two of those recordings may well make it onto our Facebook page or RSCM America's website.

Tulsa In July: A Life-Changing Week Awaits!
By Sara Arnold, Tulsa Course Co-Manager

This is the second article in a series that will explore the passion that our managers have for their summer training courses

Is a visit to Tulsa for a week in July on your bucket list? No? Well it should be--as a participant in the RSCM Tulsa Course!

The Tulsa Course is special in the line-up of RSCM America summer courses in that it is one of only two boys' courses in the country. The course is for boys ages 10 and up, including trebles and changed voices. Men and women make up the rest of the choir singing alto, tenor, and bass. The week-long course is an exceptional experience for the boys and teen boys that attend. The opportunities for growth in leadership, musicianship, and camaraderie are made more significant because it is an all-boys course. This course is one of the smaller courses, with a maximum of 60 participants, which allows the director and staff to give more attention to each participant during the week.

The course is co-managed by Casey Cantwell and me, Sara Arnold. I am not a professional musician as most course managers are. Rather, I am a business person with a passion for music. I love my "day job", which is IT consulting. I also love singing and have been singing all my life. So, I take a vacation to attend and manage the Tulsa Course, and work on course preparations throughout the year during my free time. As co-managers, we have a unique partnership, with Casey being the professional musician and me being a business person. It balances well for a good, effective training course.

In 2015 we will welcome Richard Webster, FRSCM as our music director. You can find additional information and links to the online registration forms at our website. Come and spend a life-changing week with us in Tulsa in July!
