Dear IMSA Community,

I hope the New Year finds you hopeful, healthy and well. As we shared in the fall, the IMSA Board of Trustees is conducting a search for its next President following the announcement of Dr. Jose Torres in September that he will retire on May 31, 2021. As Chair of the Presidential Search Committee (PSC), I am pleased to provide you with an update on the PSC’s search.

The IMSA PSC comprises:
  • Kathleen Clarke '93, Trustee
  • Luis Nunez, Trustee
  • Paula Olszewski-Kubilius, Trustee
  • Erin Roche '89, Trustee
  • Marsha Rosner, Trustee
  • Steven Sims, Trustee
  • Tami Armstrong, Staff
  • Jasmine Kwasa ‘09, Alum
  • Matthew McCutcheon, Faculty
  • Storm Robinson, President’s Cabinet

The PSC selected the nationally-renowned search firm Koya-Storbeck in a competitive process. Based on feedback from the PSC and IMSA stakeholders, Koya- Storbeck developed a thoughtful position description that reflects the opportunities for our next President and captures the qualities the President needs to have to successfully lead a diverse and entrepreneurial institution like IMSA. Koya-Storbeck has been conducting a national search with these parameters in mind, and the PSC has begun reviewing potential candidates. The PSC aims to nominate a final candidate to the Board of Trustees this spring for its approval.

I am excited by the dedication of the PSC, the guidance of Koya-Storbeck, and the robust search and selection process to find IMSA’s next President to continue IMSA’s mission to ignite and nurture creative, ethical, scientific minds that advance the human condition.

If you have any questions about the search process, please do not hesitate to contact me at
