New This Week
Thank You from the CMC!
Thank you to the Pacific Southwest District for hosting a barbeque dinner for the Cross-Cultural Ministry Center at Concordia-Irvine (CMC). It was good to take a break from the studies and spend some time fellowshipping and visiting with the three district Presidents Gibson (PSD), Lange (CNH), and Linnemann (NW). Thank you to all those who were involved in organizing and preparing this incredible dinner (Holy Smokers bbq!) and time together! And a thank you to the congregations, mentor pastors, and families who have given up their vicars and husbands/fathers during these three weeks. It is such a valuable and important time of learning and growing in theology and as a community.
Two Cars Needed
Salam Ministries, reaching Arabic-speaking and Muslim communities in SoCal, is in need of two cars. One for a member of their community that needs to get back and forth to work and another for their ministry. If you have an extra car you're not using and would like to donate, it will be put to a very good use. If you can help, please email
Who is this King? Cantata
Who is this King? a cantata written by Lloyd Larson and Joseph M. Martin, is the story of Jesus as royal servant, rejected friend, and risen Lord. This concert will be presented at St. Luke Lutheran Church, Claremont on June 27, at 7:00 pm, under the direction of Miwha Choi. The combined chorus of St. Luke and the Chino Senior Chorus will perform the cantata along with a small chamber orchestra. Refreshments will be served after the performance. This promises to be a moving production that will memorably culminate the Church Year.
A suggested donation for the event is $20.00 to help defray costs. If you give $30.00, you will receive a CD of Ms. Choi's recorded music. Tickets and CDs are available from Beth Borke. You may email her at, or telephone her at 706-267-0155.
Decorate Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade Floats
Registration is now open!  Join us and help to support and make possible the only Christian float in the parade. The 2022 Tournament of Roses parade theme is Dream Achieve Believe and our float is titled Jesus Teaches. The float features Jesus with 12 modern day disciples in a lush, woodland setting. They are surrounded by books of Jesus’ teachings; trail markers noting attributes that guide our daily lives including joy, peace, love and kindness; and a cross firmly fixed to solid rock. LHM invites viewers to experience the hope and love found in Jesus, as well as join the Petal Pushers®, a volunteer group that decorates 8 to 10 Rose Parade floats annually.

CTSFW Continuing Education Course:
The Formula for Pastoral Ministry
This course will examine each of the articles of the Formula of Concord (the last of the Lutheran Confessions) from the perspective of pastoral theology and asking the question: What does pastoral ministry look like when justification by faith alone is the basis and boundary of our preaching, teaching, liturgy, and the care of fearful consciences?

This poignant 3-day study will be presented by Professor John T. Pless, whose credits include Assistant Professor of Pastoral Ministry; Missions Director of Field Education; Founding Editor of Logia: A Lutheran Journal of Theology; and member of the board of editorial advisors for Lutheran Quarterly. While this course is geared towards those serving in the ministry, it is open to anyone that wishes to attend! Food, Drink and Fun provided!

This course will be taught June 29-July 1 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Anaheim, CA. Register Today!
