The 47th Pacific Southwest District Convention will be held this summer from June 25-27, 2025, at the beautiful La Quinta Resort in La Quinta, CA. This gathering promises to be an enriching time of fellowship, worship, and strategic planning for our district's future.

Congregational Reporting Deadline Extension

The Congregational & Lay Leader Reporting Deadline has been extended again - new AND FINAL deadline is May 2, 2025 - it will not be extended again! This information is necessary for our congregations' participation in the convention process as well as provides value to our district. For assistance with your login, please contact the Synod office in St. Louis directly - rosters.stats@lcms.org. If you have other questions regarding the reporting that is due, please contact Kelly DeJongh (Kelly.dejongh@psd-lcms.org) in the district office. LCMS U Campus Ministry Staff Conference

Registration is open for the LCMS U Campus Ministry Staff Conference, which will be held May 28–30 at Concordia University Irvine.


Sponsored by The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS), the event is for pastors, directors of Christian education, deaconesses and others who are leading campus ministries in the LCMS. The conference’s purpose is to:

  • Facilitate networking among campus ministry leaders;
  • Facilitate sharing of ideas; and
  • Provide theological education and discussion, including plenary presentations, breakout sessions and a panel discussion.


Under the theme “Baptized: Identity and Vocation in Campus Life,” the conference will feature presentations by Rev. Dr. Scott Stiegemeyer, Rev. Dr. David Loy, Rev. Dr. Jason Lane, Rev. Dr. Joel Oesch and Rev. Dr. Heath Trampe.


Breakout sessions will be led by Rev. Chris Hull, Rev. Quinton Anderson, Rev. Miguel Barcelos, Rev. Jay Winters, Rev. Dr. Alfonso Espinosa and Dr. Sue Hasselbring.


A roundtable discussion will be led by Rev. David Kind and Rev. Eric Andrae.


There is no fee to attend. Lunch and dinner on May 28 and 29 as well as lunch on May 30 are included at no charge. The conference capacity is 70 participants.

Attendees may also reserve a complimentary CUI dormitory room for the nights of May 28 and 29 on a first-come, first-served basis.

Meet Our New

Executive Director of School Administration

The Pacific Southwest District is pleased to announce that Xavria Schwarz has accepted the invitation to serve as Executive Director of School Administration. A multi-month search process was conducted by an outstanding group of PSD Educators and Staff (listed below). The search was necessitated by the retirement announcement of Mrs. Rachel Klitzing, who has faithfully served the Pacific Southwest District as Executive Director of Schools for over 28 years. Xavria will begin her work on June 23 and Rachel will conclude at the end of July. Xavria will serve alongside fellow PSD School Executive, Mrs. Eun Chu Kim, Superintendent of School Innovation. The PSD Board of Directors will extend a Divine Call to Xavria at its May 15, 2025, meeting. Please join us in welcoming Xavria to the PSD Executive Team!

Registration is open for KINDLE Next Callings cohort launching October 13-16. this initiative is meant for all the 2nd chair ministry workers in your district that plan to retire in the next 10 years or less!


  • Individuals who participate receive encouragement, support and renewal during a time of transition and connect with others on the same path.
  • 2nd chair ministry leaders are better equipped to share and live out the Gospel in a changing environment.
  • Both the individual and the congregation are engaged in a process that has a positive impact right now and can be replicated for years to come.

National Synod Officer, Board & Commission Positions

The Committee for Convention Nominations of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) requests nominations of qualified members of Synod member congregations for the following positions to be filled by the Synod convention, which will meet July 18–23, 2026. Officers, agencies, ordained and commissioned ministers, and member congregations of the Synod and their lay members are all invited to submit nominations, to be received preferably before August 18, 2025, and no later than October 18, 2025.


Nominees are sought for:

  • Secretary of the Synod
  • LCMS Board of Directors (at-large and regional)
  • LCMS Boards for National and International Mission (regional)
  • Commission on Theology and Church Relations
  • Concordia Historical Institute Board of Governors
  • Concordia Publishing House Board of Directors
  • Lutheran Church Extension Fund Board of Directors
  • LCMS Foundation Board of Trustees
  • Concordia University System Board of Directors
  • Synod University and Seminary Boards of Regents


Important information, including an explanatory memorandum, a detailed description of the offices to be filled (with present terms and incumbents), and instructions for use of the new online nomination system, is available at lcms.org/nominate.
