Do You Know What the Office of the General Assembly Does? Take the Survey!
|
|
As a Presbyterian, how informed are you about the work of the PC(USA) Office of the General Assembly (OGA)? What do you think about the work this office does?
A survey has been created to get input from the broader Church regarding OGA. Your responses will help OGA learn about Presbyterians' current understanding of, and alignment with, its work.
Share the following link with anyone who wants to take the survey. This is open to all Presbyterians! OGA want to hear the voices of Presbyterians from all levels of the church, so that their discernment can be made not just prayerfully, but also with open hearts and informed minds.
We estimate that this survey will take about 15 minutes. Your participation is voluntary and all answers are confidential (and anonymous if you used a generic link to open the survey). If you don't know the answer to a question, it does not apply to you, or it makes you uncomfortable, skip it. You won't hurt our feelings.
This survey will close on August 19th.
If you run into any technical difficulty while taking the survey, please contact Deb Worland at 502-569-5077 or
deb.worland@pcusa.org

R.L. McNabb, Board of Directors President of Kemmerer, writes a beautiful article about his history and future with Kemmerer Village.
My first connection with Kemmerer Orphanage was Christmas of 1945. My family lived in Tuscola and was active in the Presbyterian Church there. We always collected Christmas gifts for the children, and my father volunteered to deliver the food donated to Kemmerer. Being only the age of nine, I was quite impressed with the old main house, and especially the fire escape tubes which still stand today. Of course, the purpose of the place, being a home for so many kids also impressed me. Knowing someone named Mr. Kemmerer had the foresight and big heart to donate his house and farmland for such a worthy purpose was inspiring. Little did I know then Kemmerer would become one of the most important missions for my wife Marie and our family

For use at Presbytery gatherings/meetings. Authored by Rev. Bill McLean, Presbyter for Congregational Care.
John 6:25-34 - New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)
When they found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him, “Rabbi, when did you come here?” Jesus answered them, “Very truly, I tell you, you are looking for me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate your fill of the loaves. Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures for eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For it is on him that God the Father has set his seal.” Then they said to him, “What must we do to perform the works of God?” Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.” So they said to him, “What sign are you going to give us then, so that we may see it and believe you? What work are you performing? Our ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’ ” Then Jesus said to them, “Very truly, I tell you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” They said to him, “Sir, give us this bread always.”
- How do we know that we are following "signs" and not merely following "because you [we] ate your [our] fill of the loaves?
- How can we demonstrate Jesus' teaching that "this is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he sent"?
- How might the Presbytery/congregation/committee be guided by this Scripture?
