First, Urbana Receives The Green Team Award
Congratulations to First Presbyterian Church of Urbana for receiving The Green Team Award! The award was presented at The Green Team Summit, sponsored by Faith in Place on Saturday, September 14th.

Faith in Place empowers Illinois people of all faiths to be leaders in caring for the Earth, providing resources to educate, connect, and advocate for healthier communities.

Since 1999, Faith in Place has worked with over 1,000 houses of worship throughout Illinois to protect our common land, water, and air. With outreach staff working across the state and offices located in Chicago, the North & West Suburbs, Lake County, Central Illinois, and Southern Illinois, Faith in Place inspires faithful people to care for the Earth through our four program areas: Energy & Climate Change, Sustainable Food & Land Use, Water Preservation, and Advocacy.

Philippians 4:4-9 - New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Keep on doing the things that you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.

  • How can we let our gentleness be known to everyone?
  • What are ways in 2019 and 2020 that we can “Keep on doing the things that you [we] have learned and received and heard and seen in me”?
  • How might the Presbytery/congregation/committee be guided by this Scripture?
