Powered Industrial
Lift Truck Training
Under OSHA standards, only trained and competent employees are permitted to operate a powered industrial truck in the workplace, and all operators must be trained and certified by their organizations.
OSHA’s standards require employers to develop and implement a training program based on the general principles of safe truck operation, the types of vehicle(s) being used in the workplace, the hazards of the workplace created by the use of the vehicle(s), and the general safety requirements of the OSHA standards.
Trainees must receive training in a variety of truck-related and workplace-related topics. During training, they may operate a powered industrial truck only (1) under the direct supervision of persons who have the knowledge, training, and experience to train operators and evaluate their competence and (2) where such operation does not endanger the trainee or other employees.
