We would like to invite you to the Cahaba Environmental Center at Living River’s first ever BioBlitz! It will be 24 hours of surveying fun!

First, a little about us, we are an educational environmental center that provides experiential outdoor learning for K-12 school groups. We are located on the Shelby and Bibb County border in Montevallo, AL. Our site has a rich land history of coal mining and Native American land use. We have 440 acres of land along 4 miles of the Cahaba River. The Cahaba River is one of the Nature Conservancy’s eight “aquatic biodiversity hot spots to be saved” and is a leader in biodiversity for the nation. To learn more about us, visit our website at www.cahabaec.org .

We are also part of the Cahaba Blueway Project, and are proud to have the first Cahaba Blueway sign installation! This is a great project that helps citizens get connected to their watershed. We will be having a dedication ceremony at 3 pm during the event if you would like to join us.

The event will start on April 27th-28th from noon to noon, we are grateful for any participation during the event with no obligation to stay the entire time. Registration and itinerary details will be sent after you register with the link below:

We will offer free onsite camping or $5 to stay in a youth cabin (16 bunk beds and 2 twin size beds), all overnight options are first come, first serve. We will also provide dinner and breakfast for the bioblitzers! Feel free to share this email with your friends and follow us on facebook .
