Congo Partnership
The Congo Partnership Team met Sunday, July 17, 2022 to organize the Team's work with our sisters and brothers in Christ in the DR Congo, after the passing of our chairperson Belinda Dickinson. The Team elected an Interim Chairperson, Lydia Wilfong. Lydia has served on the Partnership Team for many years. You may contact her at [email protected].

MCLO This Fall

If you are a new stated clerk, executive/general presbyter, or associate, you are invited to participate in the Fall 2022 Cohort of the Mid Council Leader Orientation, online September 13–16. Here’s the basic schedule, including the plans for follow-up webinars. An invitation list is being kept; you can ensure you’re on it by letting us know of your interest. You’re also encouraged to inform us of any colleague who’s eligible.

Registration will open in mid-July to allow plenty of time to complete the required pre-event prep activities.

Back Together

In case you haven't heard...Southminster and Shades Valley have merged. The two churches held their first service together on June 5th, Pentecost Sunday. The official merger will take place on October 2, 2022. Attached is a link to an article included in the Over the Mountain Journal detailing the merge.

2022 Pentecost CANPaign
Alleviating Hunger in Central Alabama
The Presbytery's Pentecost CANpaign for 2022 is beginning. This CANpaign is designed to combat hunger. Churches in the Presbytery will collect money and cans of food to be given to the hunger organizations of their choice. One dollar counts as one can of food. Southminster Presbyterian Church Foundation for Ministry

The purpose of the Southminster Presbyterian Church Foundation is to expand the ministry and mission of Southminster by supporting community and service agencies and special missions of the church in the community, presbytery, synod, and the world. 

The Foundation awards grants annually to support this ministry and mission. The Foundation is now accepting grant applications for 2023. The total funds available are $31,000. All grant requests must be received by September 1, 2022. Grants will be awarded in late November.

Several churches in our presbytery have made available live-streaming, Facebook live, or other platforms of their Sunday worship services. We are aware of the following churches (click the link below) that are offering these platforms and will plan to continue services on Sundays so their church members can participate in worship from home. Perry Dallas County Fund
