The Presbytery’s Pentecost CANpaign for 2021 is beginning. This CANpaign is designed to combat hunger. From May 31 to August 2, your church can collect cans of food (or money) to give to your local hunger program. All the food or money collected goes to the organization your church chooses. Each dollar donated counts as 2 cans of food.
When your church’s CANpaign ends, please tell Presbytery how much your church gave and where it donated the proceeds. We will need the results of your church’s CANpaign by August 10. We will recognize the top giving churches at the August 19 Presbytery meeting.

It is said that a picture is worth a thousand words. If that is true, these pictures speak volumes for the dedicated work of our staff, volunteers and supporters during our recent food distribution day. But the day was filled with much more than that. The day could best be described as a wholistic community service day for people in need of food, clothing, vaccinations, masks & hand sanitizers, voter registration, free resources, and sharing their opinions on the community's attitude related to COVID vaccinations by completing a survey.
The underserved in our community did not have to navigate the confusing and often expensive process of visiting numerous locations in order to access the services that were available to them at our site. Thanks to everyone who made this happen! Greater Birmingham Ministries (GBM) relies on the financial support of people like you to continue to meet the needs of the people we serve with food, financial assistance and more. Thank you for your contribution.
Activating Stewardship in Your Church

Both in-person and virtual attendees will hear from Rev. Dr. Casto-Waters as a plenary leader on Tuesday, September 14. Join us September 13 - 15 in Cincinnati, Ohio, or online.

Celebrate with us! Giving Catalog announces Summer Concert Series!

Dear Friend in Mission,

We are reaching out to invite your presbytery to join us in celebrating our connection to one another through our gifts and music. Beginning in June, the Presbyterian Giving Catalog will host a Summer Concert Series featuring three unique virtual concerts over the course of the summer months.

Concerts will premiere on YouTube and are absolutely free! Elizabeth Stockton Perkins, a vocalist, student at Vassar College and longtime Presbyterian Mission supporter, kicks off the concert series on June 21. The Stillman College Choir concert will premiere on July 21, and on Aug. 21 the Mission Musicians of the PC(USA) will close out the series. Once they premiere, all concerts will be available to enjoy through September.

We are encouraging congregations and mid councils to hold viewing parties for the concerts, gathering safely in person or virtually, to enjoy beautiful music and connectivity with the wider Church.

We would also love for you to include this invitation in an upcoming newsletter. You can find promotional images at bit.ly/PGCSummerConcert .

As we head into the summer months, let’s celebrate and make music together! If you would like to learn more, contact me! 502-569-5742, or [email protected] . I will provide you with the resources you need to set up a watch party.
