The Blanket Ministry

Riverchase Presbyterian Church

On Mission Wednesday, the women of Riverchase Presbyterian Church get together to make lap blankets for civic and service organizations in the area. The blankets consist of two pieces of flannel (45” x 50”). The edges have been prepared for tying the two pieces of fabric together. When the edges are tied together the result is a light weight, warm lap blanket. No sewing is necessary.

To date, the women have made some 30 blankets with requests for 70 more. A request for smaller size blankets is pending.

If there are questions about this ministry, call Riverchase Presbyterian Church 205-988-8182.

Riverchase Presbyterian celebrates

40th Anniversary

On Sunday, April 30, 2023, Riverchase Presbyterian Church celebrated the 40th anniversary of its Charter in April 1983.

The church was chartered with 69 members. Prior to building the church structure, the congregation met in the Riverchase Middle School until June 1985 when the building was completed. To celebrate this anniversary, congregation members and visitors enjoyed an ice cream/cake social in the Fellowship Hall. Elder Bob Hunt, the lone participating charter member, shared his memories of the "early days" in the school and the first few years in the new building.

Looking for Hosts!

The Stated Clerk, Jay Wilkins, is wondering if there might be interest in restoring the practice of clerks and moderators gathering at churches throughout the Presbytery. We would need congregations that might host regional gatherings. Imagine clerks and moderators gathering at churches throughout the Presbytery to support each other in our responsibilities, and to swap minutes and registers to be reviewed while we are together. I need your help in restoring this practice by volunteering to host clerks and moderators in their area. The practice was to gather on Saturday mornings, though other times might work. Give this some thought and be in touch with me about your interest at statedclerk@pslpcusa.org

Selma Disaster Relief

Many of you generous people have asked how to help out in Selma. Currently we have a team of people investigating our Presbytery's best strategic approach to long term assistance in Selma. In the meantime if you wish to make a gift for the rebuilding of Selma, we recommend the Black Belt Community Foundation. We recommend this because the Black Belt Community Foundation is a coalition of all the stakeholders in the Black Belt and are more intimately aware of the needs of the region.
